A note from the organiser....

The experimental music collective is an evening workshop of jamming, sharing music and creative improvisation.

The evening is loosely based around the idea of accomodating all musical genres and developing and sharing creative experiences and is open to anyone wishing to come down, drop in and join in, whatever area of creative arts they are interested or work in. This includes visual/audio-visual artists, poets, dancers, actors etc. who feel they could participate/contrbute in their particular field of expression. (The workshop room is plenty large enough to accomodate these activities) The evening takes place in the sofa-filled, back room of the cafe away from the general public, in a dimly lit atmospheric environment that hopefully promotes creativity and reduces self-awareness. Because the workshop is not a performance, in the interest of developing creative expression we generally discourage viewing public, or encourage them to join in some way.

Power is available for amplifiers, keyboards, computers etc and it is advised that anyone wanting amplification should bring their own, although there is a PA and amps available sometimes. Refreshments are available in the main room of the Cafe in the form of teas, freshly-made juices, alcoholic beverages and tasty wholesome food. The emphasis is on relaxing, meeting people, letting go and enjoying being creative, which reflects the ethos of the Source Cafe as a whole.
